'I'm so mean I make medicine sick'

This unequivocal statement coming out from the very mouth of "The Louisville Lip" when contemplated bestow us a deep insight on the life of its orator. Intellectuals might ask that what is there for mankind to find in the life of one amongst the reprobates, the vilified, materialistic and boastful people but this one isn't. If scrutinized in a proper fashion, attributes like veracity and stir are to be discovered in his persona. If Lamartine who describes human genius as a possessor of qualities like greatness of purpose, smallness of means and astounding results, is concurred with, then verily it can be affirmed that Muhammad Ali, is a human genius. His greatness of purpose is found in the Olympic triumph and the decision to start a professional career. Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. belonged to a ghetto and proselytized his being into another ghetto of minorities. This can be taken as 'smallness of means' for his life. The astounding result of course was a coloured man obtaining the world heavy weight title thrice for the first time in history. Despite sailing in two heavily discriminated boats simultaneously, he donned an affluent attire which many despised. He proved that there are no barriers for success to kiss the feet of man. He showed that success opens it's doors only for those who show vehemence towards it (success). Being of service to others is a template for humanity. So, for the men and women who fight for human rights and get pessimistic with the glutton governments, Muhammad Ali can be considered as diocese. His works as human activist placates the activists and itches them to carry on the virtuous path. One could see him negotiating with Saddam Hussein for the release of hostages, at another time refusing the government to join a war dispersing the golden words, "No, I am not going 10,000 miles to help murder, kill, and burn other people to simply help continue the domination of white slave masters over dark people the world over. This is the day and age when such evil injustice must come to an end," "Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go ten thousand miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights?"

Muhammad Ali being awarded an honorary doctorate for humanities can be exemplified for both soldiers of justice and education. Even though, he had once flunked the U.S Armed Force test for being inept in writing and spelling, still he was adept at fast talking and making up poems about himself. Thanks to him, a new fact is learned which tells that people incompetent in producing proper language on paper can still be proficient in producing it for people's ears..

Hence for people, from all walks of life, Muhammad Ali is truly "The People's Champion" and "Sports Personality of the Century".
