Casting

edit

In May 2020, it was announced that Lindsay Arnold had been cast in the role of Allie.[1] Arnold made her debut on June 11, 2020 on a recurring basis.[2] Arnold was home in New York when she booked her audition but she was under the weather at the time. She submitted a self-tape and was asked to "fly in for a call back, but I said I couldn't get on a plane at the time." After recovering, Arnold flew to California to read opposite Robert Scott Wilson and meet producers. Now back home, the actress sent in a few more tapes. "They asked for a couple more scenes to make sure I could handle the work." By week's end, Arnold booked the role and relocated to Los Angeles the following week. "It all happened very quickly" she said.[3]

Reintroduction (2020)

edit

Allie returns to Salem, "legal age" and "instantly turns [Eric and Nicole's] lives upside down." She has a "secret that she ends up confiding in Eric and Nicole" but she is keeping it from her parents. Carlivati said "It's a really fun [reintroduction] of this character." Like her legendary mother, Sami, Allie is "somebody that will come in and shake things up." Allie's arrival has a ripple affect across the canvas.[12] Arnold does not have much time to adjust to the riggers of soap opera. "That was actually really helpful" the actress admitted. If she had more time to prepare, "I would have maybe overthought thing a little. Giving me so much to work with right away was great for me" Arnold stated. It also helped Arnold get over her "nerves." For Arnold, it proved that the show "obviously trusted me, and I started trusting myself to do the work."[3]

Allie's secret is that she is pregnant but does not want to keep the baby.[13]
