ETHICS IN THE NAMIBIAN PUBLIC SECTOR

The Namibian public sector has been critized for being ineffective and inefficient. Many believe that this is due to the lack of respect for ethics in the Namibian society. ethics then is the study of what we understand to be good and correct behavior and how people make those judgement.Unethical behaviour is action or inaction that is not right, improper, not good and not fair. In general,Unethical conduct refers to behaviour that falls below, or violates, the professional standards in a particular workplace or profession, such as the public service, a bank, the medical, legal and teaching profession.

Measure to Combat unethical behavior

Investigation and punishment of Corruption

Whether the existing criminal law and procedures and adequate to successfully prosecute corrupt practices by public officials (political office-bearers, public officers, legislators and judges) and public servants. Adequacy of training for Police and prosecutors in the investigation and prosecution of Mite-collar crimes.
