This is the "indie game canon", a list of what I view to be the most important independent video games, broken up into three groups based on importance. This list functions as my own personal list of articles to possibly maintain or expand one day, though this obviously can be used by anyone else as well. While I have attempted to take into account as many games as possible, this is obviously my list and may differ from what others would have personally picked.
The name is based on the game canon, and is organized similarly to vital articles. Series are not listed, only individual games.
This list is under construction.

Key
edit- Level 1 lists games that had such a large on the indie game scene that it echoed throughout the entire video game industry. This could be for either pioneering independent game development or serving as an example of video games as art.
- Level 2 lists some of the most popular and undoubtedly important indie games, but did not necessarily reach a level of critical acclaim to single-handedly change the video game industry.
- Level 3 is an assortment of indie games that received vast critical acclaim or high player counts. Not necessarily industry-impacting, but rather just some popular examples of indie games.
