Navitaire LLC is a subsidiary of Accenture, offering technology solutions for airlines and high speed rail companies. Navitaire offers products in the areas of reservations, travel commerce ancillary sales, distribution, loyalty, planning, revenue management, revenue accounting, business intelligence and operations management and recovery. The company has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Navitaire was created in 2001 to recognize the convergence of two Accenture subsidiary companies, PRA Solutions LLC providing revenue accounting services and via World Network LLC providing a direct distribution platform, and the acquisition in 2000 of Open Skies Inc. from Hewlett Packard, which offered a reservations system by the same name. Navitaire expanded its product portfolio to add operations recovery solutions through an asset acquisition from Caleb Technologies in 2004, and the Geneva operations management system from Forte Solutions in 2005. Navitaire’s client base includes more than 70 airlines including many of the world’s largest and most successful low-cost airlines, and a growing number of high speed rail companies.
The company is currently best known for its reservation passenger service systems. Navitaire’s reservation solution, New Skies, is a comprehensive system providing integrated Internet booking, call center reservations, connectivity to travel agency systems, inter-airline and alliance codeshare services, customer self-service integration, real-time reporting, ancillary revenue generation, airport check-in and departure control. The modular solution is designed to serve all airline business models. New Skies is also the core for Navitaire Rail, a new high-speed rail reservation system offered by Navitaire.
The Navitaire New Skies reservations system was first launched in 2005. The system was created to replace its popular Open Skies platform (originally launched in 1994) following an announcement by the manufacturer that it would discontinue production of the underlying hardware in the coming years. New Skies, built on the Microsoft .NET platform, is the first next-generation reservation passenger service system to be completely built on new technology. Today, only a few Navitaire clients remain on the Open Skies system as they prepare to convert to the New Skies system. Navitaire reservation systems processed more than 355 million passenger bookings in 2011. (citation link: http://www.navitaire.com/res_and_dist/)
A majority of Navitaire products are built on Microsoft.NET technology allowing airlines and rail companies to readily use and integrate multiple Navitaire products. These include Navitaire Travel Commerce, Navitaire Loyalty, Navitaire Data Store, Navitaire Planning Optimization Suite, SkyLedger® revenue accounting and SkyPrice® revenue management solutions.
