Powertrain

edit

The SLR McLaren sports a 232-kilogram (511 lb), hand-built, 5.4-litre (330 cu in), supercharged, all-aluminium, SOHC V8 engine. The cylinders are angled at 90 degrees with three valves per cylinder and lubricated via a dry sump system. The compression ratio is 8.8:1 and the bore and stroke is 97 millimetres (3.8 in) and 92 millimetres (3.6 in), respectively. The Lysholm-type twin-screw supercharger produces 0.9 bars (13 psi) of boost, the turbine rotates at 23,000 revolutions per minute, and the air is cooled via two intercoolers. The engine generates a maximum power of 626 metric horsepower (460 kW; 617 hp) at 6,500 revolutions per minute and a maximum torque of 780 newton-metres (580 lb⋅ft) at 3,250 revolutions per minute.

The SLR McLaren sports a hand-built 5.4-litre, supercharged V8 engine.

Connected to the engine is a five-speed automatic transmission which offers three different driving modes: sport, comfort, and manual.[2] The former offerers and additional three modes. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) developed by Mercedes-Benz monitors traction and adjusts torque and selectively applies brakes to maintain driver control and prevent vehicle spin.
