Namubiru Rose Kirumira (born Kampala 1962) is a Ugandan sculptor who works in mixed media, including clay, wood and metal. She creates reliefs and fully three dimensional works, using assemblage. Most are figurative and whimsical.[1] She incorporates "local shapes, designs and color", using "a wide range of traditional materials" in order to "make visual commentaries about changing material culture".[2]

Biography Namubiru Rose Kirumira was born in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, in 1963.

Career Kirumira earned a Master in Fine Arts from Makerere University in 1992,[1<Rychner, Rose-Marie (1966)."Rose Namubiru Kirumira" in Contemporary Art in Uganda. Ugandan Artist Promotion Committee 1996></ref>] as well as a Ph.D. in Art Education in 2010 at the same university, writing her dissertation on “The Formation of Contemporary Visual Artists in Africa: Revisiting Residency Programmes”.[2] Serving as head of the sculpture department [1], between 1987-2011 she was Senior Lecturer at the School of Industrial and Fine Arts, Makerere University. She has participated in several international workshops,[1]and written about her experiences in a published essay.[3] Between 1986 and 1995, her work was included in exhibitions in Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.[1]. She has conducted research projects sponsored by Nkumba University, the Makerere University Institute of Social Research Foundation, the Makerere University/ Japan AICAD Project, and the Rockefeller Foundation [2].

Awards and recognitions Kirumira is said to be one of the few widely recognized and well exhibited female sculptors in Uganda. [2] In 2012, she chaired the Kampala International Artists Festival.[2]
