To date Walsh has ridden over 2500 winners including 58 winners at the Cheltenham Festival. These include two Cheltenham Gold Cups, three Queen Mother Champion Chases and four Champion Hurdles. He has been top jockey at the Cheltenham Festival 11 times. He has also been Champion Jockey 12 times.
Walsh has one of the best Grand National records in the 21st century having won the race twice (2000, 2005), finished second once (2006), third once (2009) and fourth twice (2001, 2002).

He won on his first ride for Willie Mullins, which was in a Leopardstown bumper in November 1995 on Young Fenora.[3]

Every Epsom Derby winner 1998-2016 has had Northern Dancer in his pedigree, although the 2016 winner only had him in the 5th line.
Liam Treadwell was also 3rd in the 2015 Grand National. His 4th Grand National ride was due to be in 2017 but he missed it through injury.[10]
Caroline Beasley was the first female jockey to win at the Cheltenham Festival in 1983.
Gee Armytage was the first female jockey to win against professionals at the Cheltenham Festival. All her Cheltenham Festival wins were as an amateur but she later became a professional.
