Mitchelle Mazingira
editMy name is Mitchelle but I added the Mazingira bit to mean what I truly stand for. Mazingira is a Swahili word meaning environment [[1]] . I am a young woman from Kenya which is the only country in the entire world with a national park within the city. I speak both English and Swahili fluently and a little bit of French. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Conservation and Natural Resources and Management from the University of Nairobi.
Why Wikipedia?
editI joined wikipedia officially on 8th June 2020 and thanks to the visibility project for creating an enabling platform for equiping and empowering especially women journalists. My reason to start contributing on wikipedia resonates well with Robert Noyce's quote which is "Knowledge is power, Knowledge shared is power multiplied." Another reason for contributing freely to wikipedia is also based on the fact that my little effort in contributing towards the education pool will have a positive impact to the world. I also want that when my children asked "What did their mother do to make the world a better place?" then I will boldly say that I contributed through editing the wikipedia. Moreover, wikipedia is free content that anyone can use, edit and distribute information without asking for permission as long as certain guidelines are followed.
