Mary Mijares (born January 30, 1999) is a current undergraduate student attending UC Berkeley.
Background edit
Mary was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. Later on, at the age of seven, she immigrated to the United States in Richmond, CA where she lived with her family and continued her higher education. Here, she attended De Anza High School where she became involved with clubs such as InterAct, MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement), the associated student body, and her school's music department as an avid member of the Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, and Symphonic Band.
College Career edit
In the fall of 2017, Mary began her studies in the university as an intended Business Administration major and a Global Poverty and Practice minor. Currently, she is taking two business related courses, Analytic Calculus, Asian American Studies, and an Introduction to Economics class.
Activities edit
Outside of her academics, Mary is also a part of the Cal Marching Band as an alto saxophone player and became a graphic design intern for Cal RotarAct, where she designed posters and infographics to promote club events (Fall 2017).
Leadership Exchange edit
This January, Mary was chosen to participate in the Leadership Exchange program. With this internship, Mary took a Women and Innovation course located in Raleigh, NC about entrepreneurship and women leadership. These topics focused on ideas such as human-centered design and social innovation as a means of creating solutions for different problems in the world today. Here, Mary had the opportunity to conduct research about female entrepreneurship and its impacts with others from around the world.

In her spare time, Mary likes making art, playing music, and listening to music. In addition, she also really likes cats.
