Jason Apollo Voss is
Jason Apollo Voss (born 13 February, 1970) is the author of the book, The Intuitive Investor: a Radical Guide for Manifesting Wealth, that challenges many conventional perceptions about investing and financial decisions, while offering a plan for readers to build proven skills that enable them to leverage “gut feelings” for better investing. The Intuitive Investor: a Radical Guide for Manifesting Wealth was named by Foreword Reviews as a “Book of the Year 2010” finalist, business and economics category.
In his book Voss states, “One of the most important of all investment secrets is that there is no such thing as a future fact.” The Intuitive Investor posits that what is missing from the traditional investor’s thought process is the involvement of the right-brain’s creative and feeling powers. To support his position, Voss analyzes the use of key right-brain functions to address crucial issues faced by the investor: understanding potential risks and market bottoms, properly evaluating an investment target, and recognizing the “mood” of financial markets.
Mr. Voss has used the skills outlined in his book to make a number of correct market predictions, including his October 21, 2004 epiphany in which he realized there was going to be a global recession, and which led to his retirement August 19, 2005; his calling of the March 9, 2009 market low several days after the fact, and his August 7, 2009 post, Investing in the stock market makes sense, that accurately stated that the 2008-2009 recession was over.
Prior to writing his book, Voss was co-Portfolio Manager of the Davis Appreciation & Income Fund from 2000-2005, during which time it bested NASDAQ by 77%, S&P 500 by 49% and the DJIA by 36%; the fund was named a Lipper Leader, received Morningstar’s Stewardship Award for ethical stewardship of investor money; and was ranked No. 1 in its investment category for several time periods, most notably 2002-2004.
Voss is also a regular contributor to the Forbes Economics blog and AskMen.com, has been profiled in publications including Investment Advisor, Barron’s, and Blog on Books, and has seen his articles published in New Age Journal and Financial Advisor Magazine.
In addition to his book and contributed articles, Voss is a prolific writer who posts frequent market comments, insights and opinions on his What My Intuition Tells Me Now blog. Voss has also given numerous press interviews to TheStreet.com, the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Business Week/Bloomberg Business News, Reuters, Money, Smart Money, U.S. News & World Report, Red Herring, Value Line, etc.
While Jason considers himself a supporter of capitalism, his blog has featured frequent criticisms of capitalism. Voss is a true believer in the importance of an ethical and legal framework for business and fully subscribes to the emerging philosophy of conscious capitalism.
Jason is a frequent lecturer and workshop speaker on topics ranging from tips on investing to how to use intuition for better decision-making.
Voss holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting, from the University of Colorado. Additionally, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) as designated by the CFA Institute. Voss has studied the ancient martial art of ninjutsu, eastern healing techniques and has also taught meditation.
