"The Word Alive" is is an American metalcore band from Phoenix, Arizona. Their debut EP Empire was released on "Fearless Records" on July 21, 2009.

History

Originally formed in spring of 2008, The Word Alive began as a Craig Mabbitt's (Escape The Fate) side project. By November, the band decided to become a full-time, touring project and parted ways with Mabbitt. They replaced him with "Tyler "Telle" Smith" formally of Greeley Estates, In Fear And Faith, and Emarosa. With a finalized line-up the band went in to record with Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, In Fear And Faith, VersaEmerge) in March 2009. While in the studio, TWA announced that they had signed to Fearless Records.


Empire

Released on July 21, 2009, The Word Alive's debut EP "Empires" sold 1,845 copies in the first week which put them at #15 on Billboard Heatseekers and #10 on the Billboard Alternative New Artist Charts [1]. Along with success in the charts, the record gained momentum with the song, 'Battle Royal,' featured in Rock Band 2[2] , as well as an official music video for 'The Only Rule Is There Are No Rules' [3].

Deceiver

In the spring of 2010, The Word Alive entered the studio with Andrew Wade for the second time to record their follow up to 'Empire.' Titled, 'Deceiver,' the first full-length has no official release date, but is anticipated to be out in 2010.[4]
