US production numbers
editThe first Cougar was produced on Monday, March 16th, 1998 while the last one rolled of the assembly line at AutoAlliance Internationals plant in Flat Rock, Michigan, Friday, August 30th, 2002.[1] Production numbers have been highly debated over the years until the release of official production numbers from Ford Motor Company, which still have questionable validity.

Safety
editThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has given the Cougar a "Acceptable" overall rating in the frontal crash test, and a "Poor" overall rating in the frontal moderate overlap crash test.[3]
