Help with RFC

I don't know what else to do here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Tedius_Zanarukando I tried starting an RFC and he seemed to want to discuss things, so I was trying to help him find a better place to preach and he just goes back to preaching http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Tedius_Zanarukando&diff=prev&oldid=185357991 What should I do next? Ok - Tedius is beyond dialog and compromise. Goodness knows, I've tried long enough. It's late here now but in the morning, I'll likely re-draft your RfC, sign it and put it live. I'll then post it prominently and invite the community to discuss it. Note that the last RfC I filed ended up going to ArbCom and an admin was de-sysopped. I've no desire to see Tedius punished in any way, nor humiliated, but he needs to stop this sexist campaign one way or another. He's actually taken things further than that. See this entry on the blog you helped him set up, where you're mentioned by name. Ok - I pretty close to blocking him indefinitely but would rather defer to the community, so I'll finish the RfC you started and put it live tonight. Thanks! Not my idea at all, I discovered it while working with the missing articles project...there are some things that are in Britannica that are really nothing more than a strange word for some obscure technical/architectural/religious thing and whoever came up with that template was a genius. Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Aegicrane, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Good evening. You asked on Texas's page if you'd broken procedure on the recent edits of pages which were mere dictionary definitions. I don't mean to butt in but would like to offer you some thoughts in the hope that you can learn from my mistakes.

Using the history of Aegicrane as an example, I think that what you did was fine from Wikipedia's point of view. Once the page has been transwiki'd out, it's in our best interests to clean up the page as quickly as possible and soft-redirects do that well in my opinion. In the past, I've done exactly what you did - jump over to Wiktionary and boldly create a new entry there so that the soft-redirect has someplace to point to. I have been chastised by the Wiktionary people when I did that. Their concern is that they still have a page (with history) that's in their inbound transwiki queue. They now have a harder job getting it out of the queue and merging the history with the newly created Wiktionary page.

None of that would matter except that the terms of GFDL require us to keep the attribution history of content added to the project. When you copy-paste content, that attribution history gets lost. An admin over at Wiktionary can still do a history-merge but it's several extra steps and is a somewhat error-prone process.

The process I'm now experimenting with is to

Tag the page for transwiki out. (The bot usually executes the transwiki in a matter of hours.)
Add the page to a personal list for monitoring. (I've recently created User:Rossami/Transwiki list for the purpose.)
Check the links in the "Transwiki cleanup" template about daily to see if the Wiktionary folks have yet moved the page from their inbound queue to an actual page.
When it finally is, replace the page with {{wi}} and {{subst:longcomment}}.

By the way, all my concerns about history and GFDL compliance are moot in your specific cases because you were the sole contributor at both Wikipedia and Wiktionary. My clumsy process is more suited for pages that I find which others have created.

Barbershop music

The tuning fork and pitchpipe statements were incorrect (as well as unref'd.) It's well deleted. Barbershoppers use a pitchpipe because it's a convenient pocket sized device, but the notes on a pitchpipe are the same as on a piano. Why do the Las Vegas area casinos say they are in Paradise, Nevada?

If you look at the category Category:Casinos_in_Las_Vegas, you'll see that regardless of the casino's mailing address, they're still listed as being in Las Vegas for sake of the category. If this is not what you are looking for, then you will need to be more specific with your question. I also recommend that if you have a specific question that it is better to ask it on a single appropriate page rather than to post the same question on multiple user's talk pages. Greetings!

I saw you added {{Infobox WoT detainees}} to some articles. I too have been adding this template. I think I still have things to learn about using infoboxen. But I have started to use {{Birth date}}, {{Death date}} and {{Birth year and age}}.

Instances of these templates embed named fields in the HTML the page generates that let robots read the birth and death information automatically -- which seems like a really good idea to me. I noticed you weren't using them, so I thought I would let you know about them.

I use the firefox browser, and I use firefox "add-on" called "clippings". It lets you maintain a tree of your most commonly used phrases to paste in. I have close to a hundred clippings now. These templates are among them, so it is really easy to instantiate. Very handy. I'd go nuts without it now.

The {{Birth year and age}} template takes one argument, the year, after the pipe symbol. The other two templates take three numeric arguments, year, month, and day.

If you are using the firefox browser instead of internet exploder, then installing the add-on takes about one minute. Here is the link to the clippings addon....

So, I paste in the WoT box, figure out if we just know the year of birth, or if we know the actual date, then paste in the appropriate birth-date template. There is some documentation that shows the details of what kind of HTML the templates generates. Do you speak HTML? The language we write wiki pages in is a "markup language". So is HTML. When we save a wikipedia page the wikipedia translates it into HTML.

HTML looks opaque. But you can start to use it, by learning some of its simplest markup tags, without learning the whole thing. <p> is the tag for a paragraph break. <br> is for a simple line break. <s> and </s> are the matching tags you use to enclose text you want to strikeout ~~like this.~~

I used your question to gauge how to respond to you. "...embed tho birth and date bits..." -- this didn't make sense to me. To me, it looked like an honest question from someone inexperienced.

I never think someone is a "moron" because there seems to be something they don't seem to know.

What I thought I was offering you was an honest answer to an honest question, gauged to what I honestly thought was the level of technical sophistication you seemed to be presenting. Let me suggest that rather than be offended you could choose to laugh this off as a simple, honest, well-intentioned misunderstanding.
