Disclaimer- Things on this page are from the point of view of Legeres (talk), in other words there is a chance that they may be wrong, right, or even none of the above, any discussion of said matters should take place on the talk page, with name of writer included. If you see grammatical/spelling errors I welcome you to fix them, but vandalism won't be tolerated.

I consider myself a wiki novice, I can use some code, but the more advanced stuff confuses me, so I'll leave it to others.

status edit

I'm taking a wiki-break before i go wiki-insane.

ongoing interest edit

(Notes: not a full list)

These are links to places of interest of mine, I'm currently watching them closely.

past debates edit

These are links to debates that went on in the past and there results

  • Sources that are acceptable, mainly the stuff dealing with official announcements from official forums that are highly moderated. - (Proved Rednames(aka GMs, Moderators, ect.) in DragonRealms forums are reliable)

wiki articles to remember edit

notes: these are to help me remember, if your not familiar with them you should read the actual articles

  • Notability isn't temporary, once an article proves itself notable it doesn't have to keep proving itself with new sources.
  • What isn't grounds for deletion states that some things should be changed or given sources (or tags for sources) rather then just deleting them
  • preserve "Try to preserve information. As long as any of the facts or ideas added to the article would belong in a "finished" article, they should be retained and the writing tagged if necessary..."
  • wiki-code for simple references how-to guild for references(apparently I still don't have this right.. any help would be appreciated)
  • External Links rule 12, the exceptions of links to be avoided
  • Consensus (specifically the one about, when an article proves it notability, it doesn't need to keep proving it)
  • Civility(topic name speaks for itself this time)
  • Ignoring the rules should be used hand in hand with using common sense, as being too wrapped up in the rules can cause you to lose perspective and or neutrality.
  • Gaming the System refers to using Wikipedia policies and guidelines in bad faith, to thwart the aims of Wikipedia and the process of communal editorship deliberately.
  • User pages: a page all about what should and should not go on user pages
  • Signature guidelines, colors, codes: all the fun stuff everyone's doing with their sigs.

(my opinion on wiki rules based on all the ones i've read, is that guidelines aren't meant to be written in stone, that they are suppose to have some flex to them, otherwise why would there even be rules like "ignore all rules" in the first place?)

Misc edit

-Sometimes I wish I could edit summaries(from editing) for typos, then I think about all the edit wars that would cause...
-Sometimes you have to take a deep breath, step back a bit and reassess the situation.
-If stuff keeps going the way it's going, then we'll need references for our references, and references for those references, does the circle of references ever end?
-Even I twitch at some of the horrible ways I've butchered spelling..
-You might notice I tend to type in all lowercase, I recognize is as not appropriate here and correct it when I notice I've done it.
-When I think I've read all the rules there could possible be, I find a new one somewhere that leads me to a hundred more, how many are there anyway?
-I like providing links, I'm a big fan of: if you don't believe me look at the information yourself
-A thank you to Pablomismo for putting my disclaimer in the nice box up on top.

personal opinions on certain things edit

  • 1. If your going to delete something in an article because it has little to no references/sources, have the courtesy to set a time limit before you delete said thing. (common sense applies to this, some things don't belong and should be deleted right away)
  • 2. Is it just me or is the "ignore all rules" rule the most ignored rule? guess i'll never know
  • 3. If an article is "too long" why not put it on multiple pages? It would be relatively easy to do with internal links.
