Kouichi Kobayashi

Koichi Kobayashi (小林竑一, Koichi Kobayashi, born 1945) in Tottori,Japan) is a Japanese-American landscape architect who has been contributing to landscape architecture and Japanese Garden. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and Kyoto University.

Koichi Kobayashi 小林竑一

小林竑一は、京都大学農学部でランドスケープデザインの研究を行った後，カリフォルニア大学バークレー校でランドスケープデザインの修士号を取得。ワシントン大学教員，建築設計事務所勤務，ベルビュー市役所都市計画局勤務を経た後、1981年から現在に至るまでKOBAYASHI & ASSOCIATESの代表を務める。これまでにはCelebrate Success ‘92，Innovation in State and Local Government Award 1992，Construction Minister Award 1992，Design for Transportation National Award Program 1996，Federal Design Achivement Award 1995，Landscape Architecture Award 2000等，多くの受賞がある。また関わってきたプロジェクトは，アメリカや日本，その他の国々での複合居住エリアのマスタープラン策定，公園・オープンスペースの計画・設計，高速道路等の移動空間の計画・設計，商業地・教育施設・住宅地の計画・設計，日本庭園の設計・修復など多岐に亘る。 阪神・淡路大震災時には，ワシントン州と住宅供給の提案を兵庫県に申し入れ，その後もシアトルから被災時の復旧・復興のあり方を発信してきた。また，東日本大震災では，陸前高田市の復興プランの提案や「展望の丘」づくり，（社）日本庭園協会との連携による日本庭園づくり支援，三陸海岸トレイルの提案など行っている。 兵庫県との関わりとしては，ワシントン大学Center for Urban Horticultureと淡路景観園芸学校との教授交換制度の設立に関わり，自身も本制度にて来日し教鞭をとっている。また，平成27年度には当学客員研究員として登録され，赤澤宏樹准教授がワシントン大学で平成28年度在外研究を実施するにあたり，各種事前調整を行った。
