Synopsis

edit

An exhibition of the work of Lille sculptor Victor Maurin (Christian Vantomme) is to be held at the museum " La Piscine " in Roubaix. A few hours prior to the opening, the artist is found dead. It becomes the first case of a young public prosecutor who sends in police commander Caroline Flament (Annelise Hesme) from Paris to lead the investigation. The local police captain William Henry (Loup-Denis Elion) is offended by the arrival of the parisian superior officer, and this fuels future tensions between the collaborating investigators. The new mission is an opportunity for Caroline to return to the city where she grew up and to reconnect with her childhood friend, Astrid d'Armentières (Elsa Lunghini). The latter is no other than the scenographer of the murdered sculptor and the mother of Oscar (Axel Auriant), who was doing an internship alongside Victor Maurin, and whose girlfriend, Adèle (Milena Sansonetti), was one of the artist's models. The investigation turns out to be difficult.

The french communes Lille and Roubaix (with surroundings) hosted the filming of Meurtres à Lille from 11 June to 9 July, 2018.

La Piscine, the museum of art and industry in Roubaix, acted as the story's main frame. The museum, thus called since it is set up in an old art deco bath house built between 1927 and 1932, is central to the movie plot. The murder that sets off the police investigation occurs within its walls. It's also where the investigation reaches its conclusion in one of the final scenes, in front of the splendid half-moon shaped roof that illuminates the pool of the main building.

The Belgian paper Moustique considered the movie to be, "like the other parts of the series, a pleasant entertainment that should satisfy the audience"[1].
