Roax Tan Teong Sik (simplified Chinese: 陈忠实 ; pinyin: Chen ZhongShi) [born 2nd February, 1987] is a Malaysian actor. He is the recipient of accolades such as Asli Drama Award , Short & Sweet  and some other nomination.

In 1998, he made his theatre debut in the primary school he went, SRJK(C) Li Hwa, and triggered him to pursuit his dream as an actor.

In 2011, Tan made his television debut on Malaysia first hokkien dialect TV drama, Home. He started to get recognition after join the long-running sitcom Oh My English . Tan held a Drama & Visuals diploma from  New Era University College with in 2008, soon after, he was a recurring guest on several theatre and musical shows including Prince Siddartha The Musical and I Have A Date With Spring (Dama Asia version)

In 2013, beside working as an actor, he also working as a part time radio announcer in the top radio station in Malaysia,MY FM.

On stage, Tan starred in the Kuala Lumpur Performing Art Centre (KLPAC) award winning play by Joe Hasham, Mark Beau De Silva such as The Joy of Solitude, Big Head and Potato Head, Paper Crane the Musical. He also starred in award winning director,Deric Gan   play The Ring Of Nibelung in 2018 which he played 3 roles in the play and won him a Best Actor Award from Asli Drama Award.

Tan is currently resides in Tokyo , Japan.

Early Life & Education

Roax Tan Teong Sik was born in Butterworth,Penang to Too Guek Yuo and Tan Choi Hin. His father, an entrepreneur of TCH Group which is pioneer of duck breeding in Malaysia. Roax Tan has 4 sisters, and a brother. Tan credits his own parents for being understanding and supportive when they knew his dream as an actor. He is a distant cousin to Malaysia singer AhNiu.

Tan was raised in Butterworth,Penang  and attended Chung Ling High School Butterworth.he was a member of his school Drama Society and also participated in Malaysia Red Cresent Society .He won Best Director for the drama competition North Malaysia High School Drama Competition before he graduated from high school.

Before Tan studied in New Era University College, his parents suggested him to get a Bachelor of Business Degree in Sydney Australia which he had refused.

Tan could speaks English, Mandarin Chinese, Malay Language, Japanese Language, Cantonese and Hokkien.

Career

Tan started his career as stage actor since 11 years old. He had participated in many productions including classic such as William Shakespeare’s Macbeth  ,Richard Wagner'sDer Ring des Nibelungen . His television debut came in 2012, on the Astro TVIQ , he played as See Yew Soon in the long run sitcom Oh My English  which he started to get recognition in Malaysia. Tan had the opportunity to play a role in Malaysia first Hokkien dialect TV Drama, Home by Astro Hua Hee Dai.

In 2012, he played as See Yew Soon in the long run sitcom Oh My English! (2)(3) produced by Red Communications and aired on Astro TVIQ and started to get recognition in Malaysia. Staring along with Zain Saidin, Adibah Noor, Aaron Aziz, Tiz Zaqyah, Carmen Soo and other celebrities.

Tan had worked as part time radio announcer in MY FM by Astro Radio from 2013-2015.

He also worked as an event/TV host for Toyota ,Air Asia  and many others. He was a co-host with Maria Cordero in her TV cooking show by TVB Jade and Astro Wah Lai Toi in 2020.
