History edit

During the early 1960s ILFORD and Swiss company Ciba collaborate to produce Cibachrome, since renamed Ilfochrome, a dye-bleach print material for making prints directly from colour transparencies. In 1966 Ciba and ICI purchased remaining available shares in the ILFORD company and by 1969 Ciba has sole ownership and has facilities based in the UK, Switzerland and France. During 1983 all the facilities from the UK site at Basildon in Essex were relocated to Mobberley, Cheshire and the site was closed down. In 1989, Ciba-Geigy sells Ilford Limited to International Paper based in the United States and in August 2004 the Company announces that it is going into receivership[1]. The UK interest was subject to a Management buy-out while the Swiss company was sold to Oji Paper Company of Japan and continued trading as Ilford Imaging Switzerland GmbH, producing high quality digital inkjet media, without interruption. In 2010 Paradigm Global Partners LLP buy the Swiss Company from Oji Paper. A UK company formed as Harman technology Limited, based at the Mobberley site trade as Ilford Photo under licence to ILFORD Imaging Switzerland, producing monochrome photographic products.
