Sankofa Video Books & Cafe is a cafe and bookstore located at 2714 Georgia Avenue NW in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington D.C, and a few blocks across from Howard University. The store provides books and videos by and about people of African Descent around the world. It also functions as an event space.

History & Description The store was founded in 1997 by a filmmaking couple, Haile and Shirikiana Germia. Sankofa, which is an Adinkra term for "going back to our past in order to go forward," was also the name of the film produced by the couple.

In 2017, Solange Knowles stopped by the store to meet with local fans and buy them 250 books. Hundreds of people, mostly students from Howard University, came to the store.
