Dominic Toninato (born March 9, 1994) is an American hockey player currently playing for Minnesota-Duluth men's hockey team, where he serves as the captain. He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Dominic is the son of Jim Toninato, whom also played hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.[1]
Playing Career
editDominic played on Duluth East High School's varsity hockey team his sophomore, junior, and senior years going to the Minnesota State High School League Hockey Tournament all three years. After high school he went on to play with the Fargo Force for another year before joining the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he then played for four years, making it to the NCAA Tournament in 2015, 2016, and 2017.

Awards and Honors
editDominic was named to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff All-Tournament Teams in 2016 and 2017. He was also the captain of the UMD Bulldogs team that won the 2017 NCHC Tournament and advanced to the Frozen Four. He was All-USHL Second Team for the 2012–13 USHL season. Dominic also received an honorable mention on the All-NCHC Team during the 2014-15 season. During the 2016-17 season he received the NCHC Defensive Forward of the Year Award.
