Daði Freyr Arnarsson (born 23 September 1998) is a Icelandic goalkeeper who has been playing as a reserve for FH Hafnarfjördur[1] first team in the Icelandic Premier League[2] and as the main goalkeeper for their youth team. Daði is considered as one of the best goalkeepers in Iceland for his age as he started all of Iceland national under-19 football team games last summer(2016).[3]

Club career

BÍ/Bolunarvík

Daði started his career with BÍ/Bolungarvík in 2011,[4] signing with them in 2014[5] and making his first first team appearance at age 15 in 2014.[6] Daði played 9[7] first team games in the Icelandic First Division with BÍ/Bolungarvík in 2015, as well as playing full-time with the youth team at the time. At age 16 Daði had played 16 official first team games in the Icelandic First Division and 52 official games with the youth team for BÍ/Bolungarvík.[8]

Norwich

After the 2015 season in Iceland Daði was invited to England to go on trials at Norwich City Football Club. Daði practiced with Norwich City FC U18 and U21 teams for a week and played two games with them.[9][10] Daði kept a clean sheet in the two winning games against Birmingham City FC and another mixed team that both went 3-0. Daði later returned to Iceland ending up signing with Icelandic Premier League[11] club 2015 winners FH Hafnarfjördur.[12]

FH Hafnarfjördur

Early 2016 Daði signed with the Icelandic Premier League[11] club FH Hafnarfjördur.[13][5][14] During 2016 Daði played 26 games with the youth team and served often as a reserve for the mens first team. Daði celebrated a Icelandic Premier League 2016 win with the first team of FH Hafnarfjördur.[15] He made his debut appearance in a FH win during the Lengjubikarinn 2017 (domestic super cup).[16] In Mars 2017 Daði joined Second Division team Vestri FC on loan.[17][18]

International career

Daði first represented Iceland national under-17 football team in 2014 and went on making 9 appearances for them until end of 2015. Keeping a clean sheet in 3 of his 6 starting games for the Icelandic under-17 team. He took part three tournaments with the team: UEFA U-17 Championship qualification rounds in Russia 2015, UEFA tournament in North Ireland, and a Nordic friendly tournament.[19][20]

Daði is considered to be the main goalkeeper of Iceland national under-19 football team after being selected to start all of their 4 last games, 3 of them in the qualifying rounds for UEFA European Under-19 Championship 2016/2017.[20][21] He kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win against Latvia[22] and showcased quality skills in a 2-1 loss against Turkey after saving a penalty.[23] However, he was unable to help Iceland qualify as a 2-0 defeat against Ukraine saw them finishing third in their qualifying group.[24]
