Not Another D&D Podcast (NADDPOD) is an American podcast that features a group of comedians playing Dungeons & Dragons. The podcast was first aired on the 9th February 2018 with Campaign 1 which ran through for 100 episodes and finished on the 10th May 2020.[1] Campaign 2 started on the 16th October 2020 and is ongoing.

Format

edit

NADDPOD releases one episode each week, available on the HeadGum website. Campaign 1 was split into a series of short story arcs that last for approximately 10 episodes. At the end of story arcs, the cast sometimes take a week or two off from publishing episodes. This is always announced in advance, and is often supplemented with episodes from a bonus series or campaign.

NADDPOD has also plays at live events, set in a non-canonical version of the main campaign world. The episodes are often recorded and released for subscribers on Patreon, and then sometimes released to the public at a later date. On June 28, 2019, the cast announced the Nannerfly Effect Tour, a series of 5 live shows[2] across 5 nights.

Campaign structure

edit

Campaign 1

edit

The Bahumia campaign was the first campaign played by NADDPOD. It featured the tagline 'the campaign after the campaign' and is set after the Legendary Heroes fought back against the Lord of the Nine Hells, Asmodeus.

Foreword: A few years ago an evil necromancer attempted to conquer the realm in the name of Asmodeus, ruler of The Nine Hells, but he met his match against three legendary heroes. Thiala the human cleric, Ulfgar the dwarf fighter, and Alanis the elf wizard. After a valiant campaign the heroes amassed a great army and defeated the necromancer on the battlefield and then traveled to The Nine Hells and destroyed Asmodeus themselves. The realm rejoiced, for a little while, then everything started sucking ass again. The three heroes did everything you’re supposed to do in a D&D campaign. They convinced the isolationist high elves to join the war, they restored a rightful heir to his throne, and they toppled the dark kingdom, but those actions all have consequences. The high elves are now on the verge of extinction, the rightful king is a terrible politician, and the orcs without a homeland split off into nomadic clans and cause more trouble than they did before. This is a morally gray post-war world that still has its share of problems, many of them caused by the very heroes who quote-unquote saved it. To make matters worse, Thiala, Ulfgar, and Alanis have gone into hiding and haven’t been seen in over a year. Now my players are going to try to clean up their mess.

The Moonstone Saga

edit

Hardwon, Beverly and Moonshine showed up to the fishing village of Moonstone and met at the Hungry Trout tavern. They were alerted by Beverley's scout master Denny that his troop, the Green Teens, were captured by bullywugs and dragged into a nearby swamp whilst in the town for the annual Green Teen jamboreen. Before they could go off to save them, they got into a bar fight with some barbarians that have been wreaking havoc on the town. The party bravely decapitated the brutes and were aided by Mishka the half-orc bartender in hiding the bodies. Scoutmaster Denny took the party to visit Shay, the druid at the Temple of Malora, who blessed them and gave them scrolls of water-walking to travel to the swamp. Despite this, they chose to take a boat to a dilapidated dock on the other side of the bay and then headed into the swamp to look for the missing green teens. They picked up their trail and killed a few of the bullywug scouts, before fighting a giant snake hiding in a murky pool of quicksand and cutting it up for some jambalaya. The party improvised a zip line to make it across the quicksand and then picked up the bullwug tracks and find the camp. They found a lone guard standing next to an improvised gong. Rather than sneak up on him, Beverly tried to imitate a bullwug mating call to draw him out. The bullwug realised the call was fake and hit a warning gong, alerting the rest of the camp. Hardwon and Moonshine climbed up a tree it evade the search, whilst Beverly got caught and was being taken away. A fight ensued, in which the party managed to kill the entire search party and then failed to hide just outside the camp.
