The Philippine National Historical Society is the Philippines' oldest professional organization focused on academic study and research in Philippine history.[1] Composed of volunteers, the organization has a membership that spans the historians from the academe and local communities.

History

The PNHS began as a student history club at the Philippine Women's University organized by educator Eulogio B. Rodriguez in the late 1920s. With the help of another educator, Eufronio C. Alip, the student club was transformed into the Philippine Historical Society in 1941.[2].

In February 2, 1941, the society's constitution and by-laws were approved by charter members, who included the following:

Publications

The society publishes the Journal of History (JOH), an annual refereed journal that compiles the papers presented during the society's annual National Conference on Local and National History.

During the conference, members also receive the PNHS Newsletter, which contains the latest news, updates and activities of the society.
