Roccamonfina is a stratovolcano, 50 km north of Naples. The volcano is 17.6 km in diameter and has two calderas. The main caldera is 6.4 km in diameter, while a smaller one is on the volcano's northern side. It also has many parasitic cones.

It is thought to be extinct, although a report states that a fire rose and burned for a few days. Whether this was really a volcanic eruption or not is debatable.[1]
