Linda Kohen (born Linda Olivetti on October, 24, 1924 in Milan, Italy) is a Italian-born artist currently living in Uruguay.

Biography

Linda Kohen is a painter whose work has been shown in galleries and museums around the world. Kohen studied under Pierre Fossey, Eduardo Vernazza, Horacio Butler, Julio Uruguay Alpuy, and Jose Grurvich [1]. Kohen's paintings often feature objects in her home and her own hands and feet.[2]

Family Life

Linda Kohen was born in Milan, Italy (father Guido Olivetti). Facing religious persecution, her family emigrated to Montevideo, Uruguay in 1939 by way of Buenos Aires, Argentina [2]. She married Rafael Kohen in 1946 and moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where her daughter, Martha, was born in 1947. The family returned to Montevideo, Uruguay in 1948, and her son, Roberto was born in 1950 [1]. Fleeing dictatorship in Uruguay, the family emigrated to Brazil on May 7, 1977[2]. The family returned to Uruguay in the 1980s, where Kohen still resides.
