Amputee football was first played in Algeria in 2021, the first nation-wide competition was held in 2021, and the first international participation took place 2024. The sport is governed by the Algerian Handisport Federation ("الإتحادية الجزائرية لرياضة المعاقين", FAH), and supported by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF). The actual president of the FAH is Sid Ahmed Asri.

History

Created in 2021, amputee football started in Algeria in 2021 when the Algerian Handisport Federation created a national championship and national cup. The national team was created in 2024 and taked part for the first time to the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations in Egypt. It finished to the tournament in the third place and qualified for the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup.

Domestic

The amputee football national championship and national cup were created in 2021 with four teams from tree cities. Raed Moustakbal Oued Tlélat (Oued Tlélat, Oran), El Nasr Mostaganem, El Nour Mostaganem (Mostaganem) and Amal Sétif (Sétif).
