EuRIC edit

EuRIC (European Recycling Industries' Confederation) is an umbrella organization for the recycling industries in Europe, seated in Brussels, Belgium. EuRIC was founded in autumn 2014 and brings together national industry associations from 18 European Union (EU) & European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries. It represents and promotes the interest of an approximate number of 5,500 companies, including a high number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are involved in the recycling and trade of various material streams.

Companies represented by EuRIC and its members have an aggregated annual turnover of about €95 billion (2014), employ around 300,000 people in Europe and annually collect, transport, sort, process, recycle and trade around 150 million tons of a variety recyclables, such as paper, metals and beyond.

Foundation & Function edit

EuRIC was formally founded in autumn 2014 by three European industry associations, i. e. the European Ferrous Recovery and Recycling Federation (EFR), the European Recovered Paper Association (ERPA) and the European Metal Trade and Recycling Federation (EUROMETREC) [2][3]. These three European industry associations in turn comprise EuRIC's affiliated members, which are recycling associations of private companies on a national level. Therefore, the function of EuRIC is to act as an umbrella organization on a European level.
