Omhanda Combined School

Omhanda combined school is a school in the Ondingwanyama village.This village is situated 5.1 km away in Eenhana, Ohangwena Region of northern Namibia, while the school is situated about 1, 25 km south of Eenhana. The school is in sandy area and forested so much that most of the time it is difficult to access. The school has a large number of learners as well as teachers and is owned by government of the Republic of Namibia a country on the southern Africa. The most commonly spoken language in the school is Oshiwambo as most learners and teachers who’re there are vambo.The name OMHANDA means (Rhino) so the school named such a name because at that place there were many rhinos that used to water at the small water pan where the school is now located. The school was established in 1988 if am not mistaken with grade 1 up to 7 and the classes was just build with woods and thatched roofs. MR Efraim Shidiue is the former principal.In 2006 learner at Omhanda suffered from Itching and scratching.More than 100 pupils - and their teachers - have been itching and scratching,learners were taken to the Eenhana District Hospital for treatment, but upon their return to school they started itching all over.Learners who are schooling at Omhanda are coming from surrounding villages like: Ondingwanyama were the school is situated, Omhanda, Ohausholo, Epale and other surrounding schools are like: Eenyama PS,Kampala JP, and Onakatumbe PS.

Development

Exumokomesho leuya! At the school there is tap water learners are drinking clean water is no more like before where they were drinking water from the pan,toilets are available (konima yoixwa omahepu) and classes are now finalized built with special ridge tiles on top.There is accesses to internet because the school has lab and network is all over. The school was started up with grade one (1) to grade seven (7) but now it has up to grade ten (10). Classes are well organized now; class’s blocks are grouped according to the grades levels e.i grade 1-4 in their block, grade 5-6 on their block and grade 8-10 on theirs.

Performance

This school is performing well in academic terms because it is accesses to technologies. the school has a library with enough sources to be used by learners and this makes the school to perform to the maximum. learners can do search regards their home works and other school activities.
