Duddingston Primary School: is on Duddingston Road, Edinburgh, Scotland. It was built in 1959 and had 439 children on January 9th 2014. There are 20 classrooms (including the I.C.T. suite and Music Room) and the school has colossal grounds and an full sized football pitch. The Duddingston nursery is across from the school and has two classrooms. Mrs Karen Morris is the Head Mistress and Mr Brack and Mrs Webster are joint Deputy Heads. Recently Mr Colin Wilson and Mr Dave Wright retired. Duddingston Primary School starts at 8:45 on Monday to Friday and ends at 3:15 on Monday to Thursday. On a Friday it ends at 12:20. It is close to Duddingston Kirk and Figgate Park too. The school contains 42 staff (including teachers) and the school dinners have a mains and a dessert. 50 years after the opening of the school the pupils and teachers celebrated the anniversary and all the pupils were given a T-shirt. There are many groups like: The Pupil Council, Wild Life Rangers, The .L. Team and J.R.S.O., soon there will be another group called the Fairtrade group too. Duddingston’s uniform colours are white, blue and yellow. P.7.’s have different jumpers (navy with P.7 on them). The badge shows Eskalaber being held up by a hand coming out of Duddingston Loch with Arthurs Seat in the background.
Duddingston Primary School History: Duddingston Primary was built in 1958. In the past Duddingston Primary School only had 4 classrooms. From Duddingston Primary School there is an amazing view of Arthurs Seat witch is represented in our school badge. They have always had the Royal blue jumper and only recently have they’ve decided to have P7 and nursery jumpers. Recently the first Head and Deputy Head teachers Collin Wilson and David Write have retired. Duddingston Primary School used to be single story building but now a days it is a three story building. Uniform: Duddingston primary uniform is royal blue, white, yellow and navy blue. The school has an outdoor learning jumper that is the colour royal blue with the Duddingston badge, it has also got a hood. Duddingston also has a gym kit that comes with a royal blue t-shirt and navy blue shorts. Duddingston primary have school polo shirts that come in white, yellow and royal blue they don’t have the badge on it but is says Duddingston primary on it. The school have a special P7 jumper for the primary sevens the colour is navy blue the usual jumper is royal blue. The schools cardigan is royal blue with the Duddingston badge it is a cardigan that you button up. Duddingston have a school coat that is navy blue
Duddingston Primary Sports Teams
Basketball: The school has basketball training every week for the P7s over the years basket ball at duddingston have been very sucssesful. Basketball is on a tuesday after school in the gym hall.
football: Duddingston always produces a decent football team that have been highly successful over the years. The team caters for ages 8-11 and has a match almost every week. Training is on a Monday night from 6 o’clock to 7 or 7:30.
Galic football: Duddingston has a sport called galic football it is run by nile they usualy have games it is an irish sport.
School Lunches: In Duddingston they have a very big variety of meals and desserts. That are given to them by the council some of the choices are pizza, soup, potato, pasta, meat and many more choices There is always a vegetarian option.
House system:
The House system is an integral part of life at Duddingston Primary School and aims to provide a sense of competition and fun through a range of school based activities. All pupils are in one of four houses which are named after parks in the local area – Figgate, Brighton, Cavalry and Rosefield.
House events run throughout the year and children can also earn points throughout the school day for working hard and displaying good behaviour. House Point totals are announced at assemblies.The winning House is rewarded with a trophy each term and year.

Former pupils Ali Paton (warrior) Ali Paton was a warrior on the television show called gladiator her name on this show was Siren. Gladiator was a show that tested your sport ability. Nicky Emblem (basketball) Nicky Emblem is a former pupil at Duddingston Primary School. While he was in school he got a scholarship to play basketball in Oklahoma (America). Both girls attended duddingston in 1987. Other former teachers Mrs Torance , Mrs current, Mrs Scott , Ms Murray , Ms Love , Ms Richardson and Mrs Brennan
After School Club: At Duddingston Primary School children go to different clubs after school. Duddingston Primary School has a range of different clubs that children might like to go to. The names of the clubs are After school club, Guides, Brownies, Rainbows, Dance, Athletics, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Cheerleading, Glee club, Football and Basketball. Each of these clubs are managed by an adult. All the children who go to all these different clubs enjoy their time having fun.
School Groups. In Duddingston primary school there are lots of different groups many children are in the different groups like, JRSO, WILDLIFE RANGERS, THE L TEAM,THE PUPIL COUNCIL AND THE HOUSE SYSTEM.
JRSO: JRSO stands for junior road safety officer. The job of the JRSO is to help people understand road safety and to encourage people to walk to school. Every class in the school logs on to a website called livingstreets.org. Wildlife rangers Wildlife rangers are groups of P6’s that go out with the instructors from Earth’s Calling. They take a group out every 2 weeks. The L team
The L team is a group that explains how there class learns in their classrooms. Pupil Council The Pupil council discuss new ways to make the school better.
Nursery :In Duddingston nursery the children are aged 3-5 years old. The activities they all love doing are painting, drawing and playing in the sand pit. Duddingston nursery have special jumpers.
Birthdays in the nursery are celebrated by the children making a cake and singing happy birthday. The Duddingston nursery have a garden where children get the opportunity to go outside and have fresh air and play with friends. Children also get to do the gardening. There are two classes a morning class and an afternoon class

The Halloween disco for p1–p3 happens in October. In December we have the Christmas Disco for the P4-P6, the Nativity play and the Christmas Fair which is an annual fundraising event.
The Burns Supper which is in January for P7 in in memory of Robert Burns.
The Spring Fair is another fundraiser held in March/April
The P7 leavers assembly and the P7 Qually dance are in June.
Sports Day is a day when classes come together to compete in sports for a House Shield.
Benmore is a fun weekend away for P7s where they take part in activities such as gorge walking and abseiling.
School Shows and Performances:
Duddingston school shows are performed in the gym hall of the school. They are usually performed by classes in the school.
Every Christmas the P1’s and 2’s do an Assembly about the Christmas Story.
Every Remembrance Friday, the P7’s produce an assembly about Remembering the 1st World war, and the 2nd World war

School Grounds:
The Duddingston Primary School has extensive grounds and boarders the local Figgate Park. It has lots of natural wildlife animals like Squirrels and Spiders and much more. The P6’s go outside as group 1 and group 2 every 2 weeks with the Wildlife Ranger. There are garden areas around the school and we have a Private garden ( A.K.A The Quiet garden )
