Introduction
editCategories are Wikipedia's infrastructure. Used correctly, they help to organize topics and improve navigation between articles on similar topics. Used incorrectly, however, they become a mess. I therefore spend some time adding comments at the categories for discussion page.
In the process of reviewing categories, I have frequently come across quite a few humorous categories. Some of these categories are overly-specific (Fictional Black African-American DC animated Superheroes with the power to manipulate electricity) while others are are overly inclusive (German-American Christians, People of Welsh descent in Great Britain). Some are just written with weird qualifiers (Cool Chefs, Outstanding Canadians), while others are written using poor English (Weapons of British). A few others are just bizarre (000-related films, Random band). Most of these categories are deleted after voting reaches a unanimous or near-unanimous consensus.
Presented below are a sample of the bizarre or inane categories that I have encountered. Each name is liked to the discussion page where it was decided to delete the category. The list currently contains categories discussions that were started between 27 October 2006 and 30 June 2007.
