Johan Sebastian Selin (born 11 January 2003) is a Swedish footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Hammarby IF in Allsvenskan.[1]
Early life
editBorn and raised in Västerås, Selin started to play youth football with local club Västerås IK.[2]
Club career
editVästerås IK and Västerås SK
editIn 2018, at age 15, Selin made his senior debut for Västerås IK in Division 3, Sweden's fifth tier. The following season, he established himself as a starter and played 16 league games, although the club suffered a relegation.[3]
On 8 August 2019, Selin signed with Västerås SK, effective in January 2020.[3] On 12 July 2020, Selin made his competitive debut for Västerås SK in Superettan, in a 2–1 home win against Ljungskile SK, his only league appearance during the season.[4] He also spent part of the year on loan at Fagersta Södra IK in Division 2, the domestic fourth tier.[5][6]
In January 2020, Selin went on a trial with Portuguese Primeira Liga club Vitória Guimarães.[7] On 1 April 2020, he was sent on loan to fellow Superettan club Akropolis IF.[8][9] He only made three league appearances for Akropolis, since the club signed both John Alvbåge and Orestis Menka shortly after his arrival, and the loan deal was cut short in August.[10]
Hammarby IF
editOn 23 August 2021, Selin was sent on loan to Hammarby TFF in Ettan, the feeder team of Hammarby IF in Allsvenskan.[11] After making nine appearances for Hammarby TFF during the 2021 season, Selin completed a permanent transfer from Västerås to Hammarby on 6 January 2022.[12][13]
Personal life
editHis younger brother Liam Selin is also a football goalkeeper, playing in the youth academy of Danish club FC Midtjylland.[14]
