Jim Corbett was youngest of his siblings. His father worked for erstwhile British Government of India. His mother was a housewife. Jim has written fondly about his childhood in Kaldhunghi.

Jim corbett was famous for hunting Man-eaters in Kumaon. He was an avid hunter throughout his youth. Though he became a pacifist and conservationist, later in life.

Writer

Jim corbett gets his fame from the number of books[2] he wrote about his exploits in the jungles of Kumaon. He killed many man-eaters tigers and leopards in Kumaon region. He later recounted his tales of adventure, that have become part of Jungle folk-lore


Writing Style

Jim Corbett wrote in a fluid style that was easy to understand. The most interesting part of his tales was how he approached each man-eater, How the man-eater was enticed by bait and finally, the killing.


Death

Jim corbett died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Kaladunghi.
