Possible future study

edit

I would love to learn other languages such as Mandarin Chinese. I do not come from a multilingual country (although it is multicultural) so I am a little behind Europeans and certain others. I look forwarding to studying for a doctorate in theology or perhaps science/maths. I would like to learn in different cultures, the ultimate form of which would be learning in a foreign country and in a language originally foreign to me.

I would like to complete a doctorate (PhD) someday. A possible topic, that I am currently very interested in, is inspiration (see Biblical inspiration and revelation).

One dream is to learn Buddhism from a Buddhist institution, in a Buddhist country, in a predominant Buddhist language, while surrounded by the Buddhist culture, etc. The same for Islam. I see both religions, as well as Christianity, as important to the Western world at the moment. Buddhism is seen by some as hip and cool, although I think most people haven't seriously tried to understand it. It has an image of toleration for others, which is what I think people admire, and who wouldn't admire that, assuming it is true? Islam is particularly controversial lately, and probably also much misunderstood by the West.

I also have an interest in sciences such as physics and math(s), which some have encouraged me to pursue.
