Ashish Kumar Singh is an officer of Indian Administrative Services (IAS) from 1988.[1] He served as Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Department (A&T),[2] with additional charge of Skill, Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Innovation Department in 2023. Singh is set to be superannuated by the end of 2023. His career of 35 years with various responsibilities ranging from District Magistrate to Secretary at Prime Minister's Office to Additional Chief Secretary, Maharashtra.

Early life and education edit

Singh holds a Masters degree in Arts, specializing in Economics, obtained from Allahabad University in 1986. Later, in 2007, he pursued an Executive master's in public administration.

Singh is married to Valsa Nair Singh. His wife is also an officer of Indian Administrative Services (IAS), currently posted as ACS Housing Department, Maharashtra.[3][4][5][failed verification] They have two sons.

Career[6] edit

Singh embarked on his administrative career in Kerala Cadre as a SDM in Kottayam District.As of the current date, he holds the position of Additional Chief Secretary for the Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Innovation Department, as well as Additional Charge of the Finance Department (Accounts & Treasury) for the Government of Maharashtra.[7][2]Mr. Singh has delivered number of speeches as a keynote speaker which include TEDx Talks.[8][9]

Singh held multiple positions in his career with Government of India,Government of Maharashtra and Government of Kerala. One of the most recent being ACS Transport & Ports Dept (2018-2022) where he formulated the States EV policy along with Port Policy.[9][10][failed verification][11][12] Some of them include ACS to Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 2020 to 2022.[13][14][15][16] He also held the responsibility of Principal Secretary to Chief Minister (2010-2014), Principal Secretary to PWD Department (2016-2018), Additional Municipal Commissioner to MCGM (2009-2010).[17][failed verification] Mr. Singh also held various positions in the PMO from 2004 to 2009. Mr. Singh has collaborated with various multilateral institutes on projects which includes JBIC, World Bank and Asian Development Bank.

Early in his career he held responsibility of Tourism, first with Government of Kerala and then with Government of Maharashtra. He was instrumental with the internationally acclaimed campaign of Kerala Tourism popularly known as “Kerala – God’s Own Country”. He was also the first to set up “District Tourism Promotion Council” while being SDM of Kottayam. He was one the Editorial Board of IGNOU when its first Digital Learning course on Tourism was launched.
