Hello!

edit

My aim is to update and add to articles pertaining to Southern California, specificially the Inland Empire. I also make election maps, specifically shift and trend maps.

Maps

edit

The following is a list of the maps I've created and submitted to Wikimedia. I create the trend maps via a program I created (C++) that calculates the trend for each county and edits base SVGs so that each county path has the corresponding color.

Adding to pages

edit

When adding these maps to their respective pages, I use the following template:

{{align|right|{{Switcher
|[[File:Relevant map shift.svg|300px]]|Shift by county
|[[File:Relevant map trend.svg|300px]]|Trend by county
{{collapsible list | title = Legend
|{{legend|#d40000|Republican — >15%}}
|{{legend|#ff0000|Republican — +12.5−15%}}
|{{legend|#ff2a2a|Republican — +10−12.5%}}
|{{legend|#ff5555|Republican — +7.5−10%}}
|{{legend|#ff8080|Republican — +5−7.5%}}
|{{legend|#ffaaaa|Republican — +2.5−5%}}
|{{legend|#ffd5d5|Republican — +0−2.5%}}
|{{legend|#ae8bb1|No change}}
|{{legend|#d5f6ff|Democratic — +0−2.5%}}
|{{legend|#aaeeff|Democratic — +2.5−5%}}
|{{legend|#77e3ff|Democratic — +5−7.5%}}
|{{legend|#4bdbff|Democratic — +7.5-10%}}
|{{legend|#09ceff|Democratic — +10−12.5%}}
|{{legend|#00bdec|Democratic — +12.5−15%}}
|{{legend|#00a1c8|Democratic — >15%}}}}}}}}

The legend should be trimmed to only include colors that are 1) included in the relevant maps, or 2) less extreme than the most extreme color of that type included in either of the maps. For example, if every county in a state shifts towards one party by 3%, then the colors for both the +2.5-5% and the +0-2.5% shifts should be included. Do not include the No change color unless it actually appears in the map. The No change color should be used very sparingly- if you find that a county did not shift/trend in any direction, try re-calculating it with more exact numbers. In most scenarios, you will find that the county actually has a very small shift or trend in one direction.
