Gender labeling is the practice and culture of public, explicit, communication of a person's gender identity. Gender labeling practices can include stating pronoun preferences as part of an initial greeting, inviting people to directly communicate their gender, encouraging participants in conferences and social events to wear pronoun nametags, and avoiding the presumption of anyone's gender.

Gender labeling is subset of labeling theory.
