History

T-cork and bottle topper from Freakin' Lightning Whiskey. (The number 8 is considered Lucky by the Asian culture.)

Freakin' Lightning is a partnership between University of Nevada, Las Vegas Professor Adam Carmer, and his brother Mark Carmer. Adam Carmer teaches classes in wine, beer, and liquor and owns The Whisky Attic, which boasts the largest whisky selection in the country [1]. From both students and customers Adam learned that many spirits share an unpleasant, alcohol-heavy bite. Adam refers to this bite as a "dissatisfier." When creating Freakin' Lightning Adam removed as many "dissatisfiers" as possible. Adam and Mark created what they describe as "Clear, all-American, ultra smooth spirit whiskey."[2]

The Whiskey

edit

The composition of the whiskey is 95 percent american grain (corn) and 5 percent bourbon. The retail price is $29.95 for a 750ml bottle. The whiskey comes in a custom bottle with a t-cork stopper. The whiskey itself is perfectly clear and is described by the creator as closer to an ultra-premium vodka than it is to any other whiskey.
