This article was originally written in the third by unknown; I have since edited it to be in the first, saving much of the original article; so, if any of it sounds (ahem) cocky(/ahem), I attrib it to TFA.

Jamie Rishaw (James G. Rishaw) (March 20, 1975 - ) am a UNIX/Internetworking engineer born to parents Deborah and Gary in Parma, Ohio, a suburban area of Cleveland, Ohio. I am a engineer (PhD/PhDs.), Grey Hat/Computer Security professional, photographer and DJ.

Professional life edit

Spending the early part of my professional and adult life in Los Angeles, California, I've spent my early career days as far back as the prime of the Dot-com bubble at Exodus Communications, the at-the-time largest Network service provider in the world. A senior engineer assigned to properties including Ebay, Hotmail and others, I rode the 'bubble' from its infancy through its burst in 2000-2001.

In October of 2000, I'd moved to Chicago, taking a key technology position with Playboy Enterprises, the parent company of Playboy magazine, Playboy TV/Spice TV, Playboy.com and others. From there he moved to consulting roles in the private and public sectors, including work in division at the FBI and later a key architecture role at AOL, the world's largest ISP.

Side projects of mine augmenting my career and experience/expertise include the creation/architecture of cEvin, the predecessor to the popular Eggdrop IRC bot and tuning and code contribution to IRCd, a server chat software capable of holding server networks supporting some 100,000 simultaneous users.

Childhood edit

Early childhood and teenage years were spent in Parma, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. I was relatively quiet about his childhood. Generally, peers of mine have (apparently) described my childhood as rather introverted; teachers of mine (who I've later asked) told me they were frustrated that I "never did homework, but aced all the tests"(citation ref direct).

Public Service edit

My most wellknown contribution, aside from Club DJ days in the Los Angeles rave scene (under the moniker The Red Crayon), is arpa.com, initially a UUCP system supporting e-mail for my own ventures and Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails, respectively bang path named arpa and nin.

Education edit

I am an autodidact by nature; I like to teach myself, and I like (what I call) my ability of "knowing how to know". Professionally, this attests to my uncanny ability to troubleshoot just about anything. I have a Bachelor of Technology degree with a minor in Information security from Columbia, as well as an Hon. D.Sc. Other professional non-academia certifications and accreditations include those from Cisco Systems (CCNA, CCNP and CCIE written), Check point , Sun Microsystems (SCNA, SCSA) and @stake (Security, Countercyberterrorism).
