About me

edit

I was a Carlo Schmid Programme fellow (October 2018-March 2019) in the Diversity of Cultural Expressions Section at UNESCO. Under the guidance of the Wikimedian in Residence at UNESCO, John Cummings, I implemented Wikipedia as a tool to improve the visibility of the Section’s work and to make its knowledge more accessible. Additionally, I integrated important data (abbreviations used by UNESCO, data (graphs and figures) produced by UNESCO etc.) into Wikidata. I also participated in the Wiki4Women event to increase the presence of Wikipedia articles on women.

My Background

edit

I work as a digitalization consultant for the public sector - with a particular focus on digital inclusion and accessibility. I am LSE Inequalities and Social Science graduate and studied anthropology and linguistics in my Bachelor's at the University of Leipzig. I research on inequalities regarding race, gender and (dis)ability and advocate for equity. I am convinced that Wikipedia is a symbol of how this digitized world can include everybody by sharing knowledge. Knowledge empowers. This is why I want to contribute to Wikipedia to empower specifically those who do not have granted access to quality education and whose knowledge oftentimes is not acknowledged as knowledge.
