Partula hyalina is a species of partulid within the genus Partula. The species is sometimes referred to as the white partula[1], and is found in Tahiti, the Cook Islands, the Austral Islands and more.
Distribution
editP. hyalina was endemic to Tahiti but was introduced to other islands by Polynesian shell traders, and it continues to survive in the prescence of Euglandina as well as on islands Euglandina never reached.[2]
Captive breeding
editP. hyalina is in the international Partula breeding program and the conservation efforts for this species have been very successful, allowing reintroductions since 2015.[3]
Phylogeny
editPhylogenetic analyses found that the P. hyalina of Tahiti are sister to the P. hyalina of the Austral Islands, as well as some other species.[4]
