Etymology
editThe generic name Tikiodon comes from the Tiki Formation, itself named after the nearby village of Tiki, and the Greek word odon, meaning "tooth". The specific epithet cromptoni is a reference to South African palaeontologist Alfred W. Crompton.[1]
