@Redrose64: Would you mind taking a look at my recent changes to the sandbox? I can't figure out why it's not displaying MMA -> WNBA in the banner. Any input is appreciated. Thanks! Hmlarson (talk) 22:13, 29 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you look at the documentation for {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/taskforces}} (and {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/tfnested}}) you will see that the numbers go up to 10; it does state "the value of n is an integer between 1 and 10". However, both templates may be used multiple times without theoretical limit (the record is held, I believe, by {{WikiProject United States}} which has eleven sets of up to ten). --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:17, 30 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Redrose64. Good to know for future use + appreciate you updating the sandbox. I believe the sandbox is ready to be pushed live if everything looks ok. Hmlarson (talk) 21:14, 30 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

WP Women category edit

@Headbomb: can you demonstrate where the Category:WikiProject Women articles should be added here? Hmlarson (talk) 03:27, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

I added:
Please confirm if anything else needed or if this code needs to be changed. Thank you. Hmlarson (talk) 05:13, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Hmlarson: I don't think that your proposal will work 100% of the time. Apart from using the entity ' instead of a straight apostrophe, you've placed the {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/cats}} template into the |HOOK_NESTED= parameter, so it won't trigger when {{WikiProject banner shell}} is not being used. Also, there is no need to drop code blobs into the talk page if the sandbox is being used properly. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 08:14, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @Redrose64: Are you saying to change the ' to a straight apostrophe? I included {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/cats}} at the end after {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/taskforces ... where should it be moved to? Good thing the sandbox is for testing. Hmlarson (talk) 14:17, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
You didn't put it after the {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/taskforces}}, i.e. in the |HOOK_TF= parameter; you put it after the {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/tfnested}}, in the |HOOK_NESTED= parameter. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:32, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: I've made the change + tested. Can you take a look? Hmlarson (talk) 05:57, 5 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Koavf: - I see you have template editing rights. Is this something you might assist with for this template as well as Template: WikiProject Women writers/sandbox? I have added the Category:WikiProject Women articles category so that articles tagged with these projects will appear in the article alerts for WP:WOMEN. Thank you. Hmlarson (talk) 16:58, 13 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

The code looks fine; but are WikiProject Women happy for Category:WikiProject Women articles to suddenly receive hundreds of extra pages? Is there a discussion somewhere that shows that they are at least aware of this proposal? IIRC there were recent disagreements about the addition of the main WikiProject Women template to talk pages that were already bearing the women's sports/writers/etc. templates. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:09, 13 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it's here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women/Archive 10#Adding women athletes to article alerts for WP:Women. See also Template talk:WikiProject Women writers. Hmlarson (talk) 19:16, 13 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
OK,   Done --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:21, 13 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Add importance categories for task forces? edit

Currently, the quality categories are set up for the task forces, but not the importance categories (e.g. there is "Category:Women's tennis articles by quality", but not "Category:Women's tennis articles by importance"). Is it possible to add the importance categories as well? Thank you! Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:25, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

I think I know how to add it based on other WikiProjects with task forces that have done this. (You just need to add e.g. this commented out line ) However, I don't have template-editing privileges. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:43, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
The thing to do is to make your changes at Template:WikiProject Women's sport/sandbox, which is (at present) an exact copy of Template:WikiProject Women's sport. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:29, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the help, Redrose64! I added it (for tennis only) to that sandbox, and it appears to work (as tested in my own sandbox). What is the next step towards adding it to the real template? Sportsfan77777 (talk) 02:22, 4 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
I notice that you did it in a way that reuses the existing |importance= parameter, which means that the tennis importance rating is tied to the women's sport importance rating - they can't be set independently. Consider Talk:Conchita Martínez - this page has High-importance for WikiProject Tennis, but Low-importance for WikiProject Women's sport. I would imagine that the Women's tennis task force would want to rate that page either Mid- or High-importance, but your code won't allow that. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 15:53, 4 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Redrose64, thanks for pointing that out! I changed it so that the article only inherits the Women's sport importance if the tennis-importance parameter is not specified. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 02:25, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but what is priority doing in there? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 09:25, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
I removed it. I think that should be it? Sportsfan77777 (talk) 17:12, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes,   Done. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:47, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
