Template talk:WikiProject Pink Floyd

Latest comment: 6 years ago by Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars in topic Edit request

Proper formatting of the template follows:

{{WPFloyd
|class=
|importance=
}}

The values for class and importance can be found on the assessment subpage of the Pink Floyd WikiProject. The template can be placed on the talk page with simply {{WPFloyd}} in order to leave the assessment to other members of the Floyd WP.

Can some explain why the album and song parameters have been removed from this template with this edit? It was explained that it causes problems but not how, but now all Pink Floyd albums and songs with this template are not assessed for the albums and songs projects. If multiple project parameters causes an issue, then wouldn't {{WikiProject The Beatles}}, {{WikiProject The KLF}}, {{WikiProject Kylie Minogue}}, and {{WikiProject Post-hardcore}} need to be fixed as well? Otherwise, my request is for that change to be reverted. Thanks. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:14, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

To editors Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars and Kaldari: the best person to ask would be editor Kaldari, who made the changes. Also, this template is "semi"-protected, which appears to mean that you can still edit it and need no help with editing. Hope you are able to resolve this amicably!  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  02:09, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Each project should be on its own. Odd no one ever noticed this before now.--Moxy (talk) 02:21, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: The problem it causes is that it makes the PageAssessments extension (which provides data to XTools, Pageviews tool, CopyPatrol, and other Tool Forge tools) think that WikiProject Songs and WikiProject Albums are both stand-alone WikiProjects and subprojects of WikiProject Pink Floyd. The templates for {{WikiProject Albums}} and {{WikiProject Songs}} should be added seperately. Hope that's OK. Kaldari (talk) 05:07, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I will see if I can delete the same parameters from the other projects that use them. I think the Beatles project participants may not like it, but I will link to your explanation. Thanks. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 05:15, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
