Class link edit

It would be nice if the class linked to class-chess_artciles

So for example the template using in Talk:Emanuel_Lasker currently rated as B class chess article linked to Category:B-Class_chess_articles in the same way as the Philosophy Template on Talk:Emanuel_Lasker links to Category:Start-Class_Philosophy_articles ChessCreator (talk) 16:43, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Could you expand a bit on this point? I don't understand what you mean. It seems that the article correctly links to the Category:B-Class_chess_articles? I am obviously missing the point, that is why I ask :) Voorlandt (talk) 19:53, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Go to the Talk:Emanuel_Lasker talk page, 'show' all the template links, then try and click to move to the 'B-Class chess articles' you'll notice you can't do it. The nearest link is only to Category:B-Class_articles - articles for all subjects. The same is not true for the philosophy articles. Hope that makes it clearer. Thanks, now I understand. Yes that would be a good improvement. I had a quick look at the code and don't immediately see where to fix this link, but if anyone else knows how to do it, it would definitely be an improvement. (I might try to fix this later, when I have more time) Voorlandt (talk) 09:46, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lists edit

Why are Lists not indicated in the Chess Assessment? SunCreator (talk) 22:47, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Based on Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment, it seems only FL-class is standard for lists. The other possible grades depend on each WikiProject. SyG (talk) 18:19, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment only mention lists that are graded (Featured List) but they still have lists Wikipedia:Version_1.0_Editorial_Team/Index as a class type. SunCreator (talk) 18:38, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wikiproject chess supports list. At some point I reassessed all list articles from list to a normal class. The reason was that they didnt show up in the chess statistics. This seems to be fixed, so feel free to reassess all list articles to list! Voorlandt (talk) 19:12, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that makes sense to introduce the change, especially as we do not have a lot of lists for the moment. SyG (talk) 19:16, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay, the thing was a bit trickier than I expected, but I made some minor changes in the "by quality" usual pages and it seems to work rather fine now. Tell me if there is a problem! SyG (talk) 21:21, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Name change edit

Someone recently changed the name to Wikiproject Chess. It is indeed the more usual name. But unless somebody is willing to fix all the redirects, I strongly oppose against this name change. The problem is that having two names for this template makes it very hard for me to maintain the list of chess topics. Also I am not sure how WP bot 1.0 is coping with this. Voorlandt (talk) 23:17, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I didn't realise this was an issue. Redirects are simply redirects and won't affect your lists if you are making a list from a template (If you are using What links here it will still show you pages that are linked from the redirects and such). WP 1.0 Bot uses categories and not templates, so that is no problem either. —Borgardetalk 07:49, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
