randomly selected banner? edit

I like this, but would it work for a randomly selected banner if you have a list to choose from? Commons has a lot of geographically categorised banners used in Wikivoyage, which are 7:1 aspect ratio. · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 17:34, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Pbsouthwood - I have implemented a basic random functionality. — FR+ 07:03, 26 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
How do you get a different banner to display? Every time I load the page I get the Taj Mahal.
I don't get the purpose of the link. Normally an image links to the source on Commons for attribution. This does not, so CC-by-sa images don't get their required attribution, which is most, possibly almost all, of the available images. · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 16:14, 26 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

max-height parameter not work edit

See Portal:Chess and Portal:Transport. The parameter max-height not work.Guilherme Burn (talk) 17:44, 23 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Is Portal:Chess okay now ?  — fr+ 09:28, 25 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Guilherme Burn - Thanks for reporting the bug. I have   Fixed the bug .Portal:Chess renders as it is supposed to render...though I think that is not exactly what you had in mind. — fr+ 16:02, 25 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
All right now.Guilherme Burn (talk) 00:11, 28 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Captions with maxheight & overflow edit

It seems that if you set maxheight and overflow, captions disappear. Does the height include the caption, is that the cause of the problem? WaggersTALK 14:54, 15 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Corrected. — fr 11:08, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Full original image is downloaded edit

The full original image is downloaded and then displayed far smaller in many cases. For example, Portal:Blueberries says: {{Portal image banner|File:Grizzly Bears in Blueberries (6187113330).jpg | [[Grizzly bears]] feeding on blueberries in a wild blueberry field. }}. File:Grizzly Bears in Blueberries (6187113330).jpg is 4,531 × 3,021 pixels, file size: 11.06 MB. Can the download size be reduced? It's probably unrelated but Module:Portal image banner twice says style="max-height:' .. (maxHeight or 'intial'). Should 'intial' be 'initial'? PrimeHunter (talk) 11:01, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Nope, the cropping is done by CSS, and there's no way in which the size of the image being downloaded can be reduced. — fr 11:09, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not cropping? edit

{{Portal image banner

What am I doing wrong? · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 10:21, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'll check. — fr 11:08, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
