infobox law enforcement unit or infobox law enforcement agency edit

@Melbguy05: Refer to this discussion here, whereas you propose to use infobox law enforcement unit and I suggest to use infobox law enforcement agency. I think we have consensus on when to use either of those infoboxes. My proposal are as follows:

  • Refer to description on "Usage" section, "A law enforcement unit infobox may be used to summarize information about an individual law enforcement unit, such as a team, unit, group, squad, command, division or district that is part of a law enforcement agency", which means law enforcement unit is created by the law enforcement agency itself. So we should use infobox law enforcement unit.
  • If the unit/agency contested is created not by its parent unit/agency but created by other parties (such as parliament through certain law/act, authority body such as King, monarch, president, governor, mayor and etc through certain decree, or something similar) then we can conclude that the unit/agency contested is a law enforcement agency and, we should use infobox law enforcement agency.

Simple example of such scenario is Italian Carabinieri, as it is initially created by the King of Italy way back in 1800, it can be considered as "law enforcement agency". when Italian Carabinieri create its own police tactics unit which is Gruppo di intervento speciale, then it can be considered as "law enforcement unit". Another example is Indonesian National Police, it's constituting instrument is Law No. 2 of 2002 on National Police ( a law issued by Indonesian Parliament) so it can be considered as "law enforcement agency", and then Indonesian National Police create Mobile Brigade Corps by national Police regulation then it can be considered as "law enforcement unit".

In case of National Aeronaval Service, that unit/agency was created by Decreto Ley No. 7 - Que crea el Servicio Nacional Aeronaval de la República de Panamá ( a decree issued by President of Panama). Let me know your thought about this proposal. Ckfasdf (talk) 06:10, 26 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Ckfasdf: The introduction of the Law enforcement agency article defines a law enforcement agency as "any government agency responsible for the enforcement of the laws". The {{Infobox military unit}} may also be suitable for Gendarmerie unit articles as a Gendarmerie is a Military force. The Manual of Style MOS:INFOBOX is "which infobox to include, and which parts of the infobox to use, is determined through discussion and consensus among the editors at each individual article". I suggested on National Aeronaval Service that this infobox may be suitable. A discussion on the appropriate infobox for that article should be on its Talk page.--Melbguy05 (talk) 06:18, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
