Place for captured pieces. edit

This is an excellent diagram. But it can be improved by having a place to show the pieces in each player's hand, preferably between the player's name and the board. —This comment was added by Sibahi (talkcontribs) 09:42, May 5, 2007 (UTC)

I see its been a long time since a response... but no difference. The problem with adding this enhancement is that the template would have to know how many pieces to expect and that would vary. I suggest to include it in with the team variables. (Ex. A1= Team 1 (onhand: QBBN)) MatthewYeager 20:28, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

FEN edit

Propose changing template to auto generate a FEN string based off the image. I have developed this code and it's currently being used at User:Matthew Yeager/Chess Render FEN. Please provide feedback either here or on my talk page.MatthewYeager 07:04, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

You have done some great work lately; however, I doubt it is useful for bughouse diagrams. The only place they could be used is in the Bughouse Chess article; and even there, I doubt it will be useful. Currently there are no programs supporting import of BFEN for bughouse directly (some programs support it inside a BPGN file). I do understand you would like to have it working for bughouse diagrams as well, just for the sake of completeness. In any case, it would be nice if you give an example on how it looks. I understand your point, just an option if we do find it useful to include FEN for bughouse. An example of FEN included can be seen in the template i made. An example of the syntax and the outcome can be seen on this test page. If you have any questions or suggests please let me know.MatthewYeager 17:36, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your reply. I was actually thinking of an example of a bughouse diagram with fen. Come to think of it, maybe you meant just having two "show fen" buttons. Anyhow, I think it is a great idea for chess, but maybe not for bughouse. Just my two cent. Voorlandt 21:37, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I was suggesting having 2 FEN strings to represent the two different boards. I agree, there seems to be little to no use for this in bughouse. I appreciate your opinion! MatthewYeager 05:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
