Richard Strauss in 1886
... that the premiere of "Zueignung" (Dedication), the first published song by Richard Strauss, was sung by Heinrich Vogl, the principal tenor of the Munich Court Opera?

The article is well written and the subject is certainly worthy of an article. (How in the world have we gone so long without an article about this?) The article is long enough, nominated timely, and no copyvios are found. The photo is public domain. QPQ was done. My problem is with the hook: it is not supported by inline citations as DYK requires. There are two hook facts that need inline citations: the fact that it was the first song Strauss published (in the lead), and the fact that Vogl sang the premiere (in the history section). - Thanks for looking. I found a source for the first publication, but not without digging one for the premiere by Vogl. Many sources agree, however, that it was dedicated to him, therefor here's (almost quirky with the double dedication) ALT1 - unless Byronmercury can provide one for the premiere:

- Thanks for the source. But let's not strike the original hook yet. User:Byronmercury must have gotten the information about the premiere from somewhere; let's wait until they have a chance to chime in and maybe supply a source. - Of course the tenor will have sung the premiere, why else will it have been dedicated to him, and it's likely mentioned in the book. But Wikipedia is not about truth but verification ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:26, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, the original source is the Del mar I think. Will check when I am back home and insert reference (if not Del mar it is Schuh's early years book. The dedication is in the sheet music itself, but does not guarantee that it is a first performance. Will sort out this evening UK time.Byronmercury (talk) 13:09, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendtand MelanieN. I have had a look again at Del Mar page 267. This has the story about aunt Johanna and the dedication of his first published songs to Vogl. However, it does not explicity state that Vogl gave the premier. I may have read too much into what is written. Apologies if this is so. So probably the best thing is to retract the claim until we can discover the performer at the premier (if the informatiom still exists). I have altered the text uder Vogl's picture.
