Stefan Ihrig

  • ... that according to historian Stefan Ihrig, the Nazis sought to emulate Turkey, which they viewed as a "postgenocidal paradise"? Source: With the consolidation of the Kemalist power in Turkey, the German nationalist gaze was focused even more toward a “rejuvenated” Turkey. The Armenian solution seemed more and more essential for creating a healthy and strong “völkisch” (ethnic/racial) state. Nationalist papers called Germans to the lesson that was to be learned here. Unless similar “putrefaction-spreading pathogens” were not removed, Germany would “die of the un-German essence.” The Turkish republic was a result of “national purification,” which Nazi Germany, as Ihrig contends, viewed as a “postgenocidal paradise.” 10.1080/00905992.2017.1390980

  • I was only able to access an excerpt of the source supporting the hook, but it seems to do the job. One could quibble over how interesting the hook is, but I do not have a better suggestion. Long enough, new enough. QPQ confirmed. Free of copyright violations and no close paraphrasing. 7&6=thirteen () 17:00, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
